Application Process
Admission Requirements
SSSCE Holders
Passes (A1-D7) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, and three elective subjects in science, including Chemistry, Biology, and Physics/Elective Mathematics.
WASSCE Holders
Passes (A1-C6) in six subjects comprising three (3) core subjects of English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science; and three (3) elective subjects in science, including Chemistry, Biology, and Physics/Elective Mathematics. However, any subject below C6 will require a pass in an entrance exam in that subject before admission. Tutorials will be held by the Institute.
Mature Applicants
Applicants must be at least 25 years old at the time of application and show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is at least five (5) years old at the time of application.
Applicants must have at least two years of working experience (Proof of employment or letter from the employer is required) and pass a written examination conducted by the Institute.
Mature applicants applying for HND Dispensing Technology should have relative hospital/industrial experience with an 'O' Level/WASSCE/SSSCE pure science background (Chemistry and Biology) as well as credits in English and Mathematics (core).
Mature applicants satisfying all the above, without all the necessary pure science subjects (i.e., Chemistry, Biology or Physics/Elective Mathematics) background may be admitted, however, such students shall take introductory courses for six months and pass an examination in pure science (Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics/Physics) offered by the school. For such students, the training will extend for an additional 6 months.
Candidates with Dispensing Technician Final Part III Certificate with at least a credit in Chemistry may be considered for entry into the programme at the beginning of the fifth semester.
Access Course by the Institute
Applicants without pure science and/or hospital/laboratory/industrial experience must register for, attend, and complete the Access Course and pass the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination conducted by the Institute in Pure Science subjects; Chemistry, Biology, and Elective Mathematics before completing the admission process and must pass a Selection Interview. Successful applicants will be placed in Level 100.
